Abstract. The project has been awarded with a grant of 185,224 Euros by the Joint Managing Authority of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI 2007-2013 CBC Programme and is implemented at present in Romania and Ukraine. The total national co-financing for the grant is 20,604 Euros. The territorial administrative units in which the activities are being implemented are Maramureş County (Romania) and Transcarpathia Region (Ukraine). The territorial extension of the project is identical to that of the Historical Region of Maramureş, which nowadays overlaps on the north-east part of Maramureş County in Romania and on the districts Rahiv, Tiaciv, Hust, and Mijghiria in Ukraine. The tourism development poles in which most of the project activities will be implemented are: Săpânţa village, Botiza village and the town of Sighetu Marmaţiei in Maramureş County (Romania), and Solotvino locality in the Tiaciv District, Transcarpathia Region (Ukraine) respectively.
